Belgium Bans Conversion Therapy for All Ages

Belgium's Chamber of Representatives adopted a comprehensive ban on conversion practices, criminalising any practice intended to change or suppress a person's sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. Individuals found guilty face up to two years in prison, with medical professionals facing licence suspension of up to five years. Conversion therapy on minors is an aggravated offence.

Strengthened Belgium's already strong LGBTQ+ protections alongside its existing self-ID law, covering both sexual orientation and gender identity.
